Introduction › Forums › Using the EnergyPLAN Tool › Pumped Hydro
Hello, I am new in the forum and in the EnergyPLAN community.
As part of a study I am performing simulations of an energy system that contains a pumped hydro power plant. Although I insert the values in the storage field when I prompt for results it appears that sometimes the storage is zero which is not what is intended. The upper and lower reservoirs would always have some water to produce power.
Could anybody please help me?
Thank you
Hi Duarte,
Welcome!
I think this is what happens:
When you specify a certain storage capacity (X) in the inputfile, you basically give EnergyPLAN the freedom to use 0 to X storage capacity. Therefore, situations can occur where the system chooses not to use the capacity.
Good luck, let me know if this helps.
Hello,
Thank you for replying it was very helpful.
In the output sheet, if the program used hydro pumping I should be able to see under the Hydro Pump field correct?
When I run my program, which is based on a country electricity system which consumed 1.24 GWh of pumping energy per year, the result is 0 throughout the whole year… This means it is not using pumping right? Any idea why?
Thank you.
